Searching for a Star Audition Registration begins January 15, 2010!
January 13th, 2010
It's 2010 and here we go again, we are preparing to host the 4th annual Searching for a Star Stage Course and Competition! "The energy at Ballard Street Music Company is electric; I can't wait to see faces of returning performers as well new talent from cities across North Texas, it truly is an exciting time" says Rob Hunter founder of the Search for a Star Foundation, a nonprofit located in downtown Wylie.
Registration begins Friday, January 15 with a deadline for applications on Wednesday February 17, 2010 at 6:00pm (No applications will be accepted after the deadline)
In an effort to better the competition, we have made changes to the program. "The changes will definitely make our program an educational as well as a very fun experience", says Rob Hunter.
During the 8 week course performers will take the stage for 5 live shows and attend 3 strategically timed educational workshops. The opportunity to perform 5 times without eliminations will make our young performers comfortable on stage resulting in better performances; the workshops are also designed to strengthen our stars performances. We have contracted local instructors and stage directors who will offer their expertise in vocal and stage coaching, choreography as well as offer critiques for individual stage performers.
After the 8 week stage course star performers enter into the competition rounds.
This is where the 60 performers in this year's SFAS competition will compete through the semi-final round, after which the top 9 performers will face off at the finals!
On June 18th at the finals 9 finalists will compete for top prize , Searching for a Star winner 2010! The winner of this year’s competition will receive $1000.00 plus trophies and other prizes I have added another award this year; in honor of my father, my greatest inspiration for becoming a musician. The Robert A. Hunter Scholarship Award, a $500.00 scholarship will be awarded to the school district or educational facility attended by the winner of this years competition. All of the finalists in this year's competition will recieve trophies and prizes too. Finalists will have the honor of having the Mayor or designated city official attend the finals to cheer them on as a representative of the city in which they reside!
